if the strings are the right height from the "retainer" to the nut, do you have to have a saddle? Here's a photo of one i mage a few moons ago, no saddle but it sounds nice. i've always wondered about that.

I didn't have it in when I snapped the photo. It's a piece of mahogany I cut and slides right under the strings.

That red rocker sure looks pretty.  Where is the saddle?
