Ten ladies brought their own boxes and we built chuggers and played a few songs at the end. It was a blast! The design on one of the box called for unorthodox neck placement!

I remember those days too BrianQ! I’ve always wanted to do something similar, and all the details have finally come together to make it a reality. Chickenbone John is very talented and also has a lot of charisma and it shows in all his videos. I am going where the opportunities present themselves, so it will be interesting to see where it all leads. I’m thoroughly enjoying the ride!!!

You are welcome Glenn! I agree with you wholeheartedly. It’s fun to broaden the musical horizons of others and give them a taste of what is possible and accessible.

I remember back in the early days of cigar box nation, Chickenbone John would post videos of his 3 string workshops. A master of Fretless sliders, he had quite an attendance, young & old?

Been quite some time since I facilitated a building event, always have fun, so cool to see folks walk out w. a git, a smile and some history they didn't have prior. Cool! Thx for posting this Doug!! -Glenn

Thanks Kale! The group build was definitely the highlight of the week. It was a party for the ladies with desserts and beverages, but when we played Singing in the Rain and These Boots Were Made for Walking around the table at the end it was a reminder of how powerful music can be in our lives!

Indeed it did BrianQ!!! This is the trial run of the build portion for my Intro to Cigar Box Guitars: “Chugger Edition” class for Spokane Community College this summer. One of the Slingers, a former student, hosted the event at her barn and invited her friends!!! It was a memorable evening.

Agreed Uncle John. The ladies had a great time, and we may have some new Slingers!
