Hi Folks, This is the group to share everything about the three string guitar.
If you have had problems in the past playing regular guitar, try playing a three string guitar, they are much easier and the have a vintage sound that is super unique and easy to capture that old school blues sound.
There is another website on the net that has a lot more 3 string guitar information. Here is the link to the website 3-string-guitar.com

Newbi here, want to learn 3 string slide guitar, have a 3 string fretless and need best lessons for strictly slide, chord chart for slide chords, tuned to GDG, I am 68 and need all the help I can get. Tried learning regular 6 string, but with bad arthritis in my left hand had no luck. The 3 string CBG will be my last hope. Appreciate any and all help. Thanks!
Just looked at juststrings.com. Good site. Thanks.
I use nickle round wound electrics in gauges .042, .030 and .020 for G and A tuning. You can hear what that sounds like on my page or my website. I get my strings at juststrings.com where you can buy individual strings by bulk.
huh, I can buy individual strings, electric or acoustic at my local music shop ... JFYI.. that of course is here in Canada thru. the largest seller in Canada I think, Long&McQuade music stores.
Yeah. now that I look at your ID picture it's obvious that you're using "real" electric pickups. Good luck finding individual electric strings. To keep from wasting 3 strings out of each set, I sometimes buy a set of 6 and use the bottom 3 on one guitar (tuned D A d) and the top 3 on another (tuned d a' d'). Of course that throws you into the key of D instead of G, but I'm a low-voice vocal anyway.
You can always build lots of 1 and 2-string diddley bows and use up your leftover strings...
Don't use electrics unless you're putting in a "magnetic" electric pickup that won't work without them. Sounds like you're not doing that. Acoustics will work best on acoustic guitars (such a concept) and also on acoustic guitars with piezo pickups or Radio Shack buzzers or whatever to connect them to an amp. I use metal acoustic strings instead of gut or nylon because these guitars make little enough sound as it is and softer strings would be even quieter.
