Danelectro Ho-Dad...any opinions?

I'll probably be getting a HoneyTone next week but was wondering if anyone has had any experiences with the Ho-Dad. It looks interesting, just wondering if it's worth the extra.Continue

Since i started playing these cbg's i've been wishing i had a chord book. A recent attemp to teach myself music theory gave me the idea to try to share anything i learn to help myself memorize what i've learned, and give ppl a sort of Chord Book. this will be a work in progress, so please be patient!See More

2nd build done!

Posted on February 26, 2010 at 3:09pm 0 Comments

Found an excuse to do a second build! Giving this one as a gift to a friend. Decided to build it the same as the first since that one worked out so well so I wanted to make sure that the gift would work out well. The experiments and dodgy craftsmanship I keep for myself. This one is built just about exactly like the first except it's a bit sturdier. With the first one, remove one screw and the whole thing will literally fall apart. This one, the lid is glued to the neck and then secured to the… Continue

Thank you KaptnKen for your comment. I am sorry for putting tempation in your path. ebay is definitely a double edge sword. Items you thought you would never find...purchasing things you really don't need. You gotta take the good with the bad. Enjoy???

Yep, and part of the fun was going to Harbor Freight Tools to pick out a couple of planes and a little jewelers hammer for fretting. I'm taking my time with fitting the neck-through (is that a term?) to the box. I don't have too much experience with fine fitting wood like that. But, it's going well... used a box I didn't care too much about, so I'll probably start a second one after this one with a nicer box. Photos to come...

Have a restful Labor Day!

Hey KaptnKen, I enjoyed our conversation at the fest in York last week. You gave me some good advice about diving right in without overthinking my first build. I started yesterday and it's starting to come together... slow but sure...

Hey there Kaptn! ...the piece I used for the bridge is a Turnbuckle - Saddle bolt. It comes with an eyebolt and a hook. Also found ones without the dip or "saddle", gonna try one of those next. Hope all is well.
