I would like to know the best Piezo location for the best sound quality and why. I know there are many different opinions on this subject. I personally like to locate 2 piezo inside the bridge, this…Continue

Hi,I just tried my first rod-piezo, mounted under the saddle of the bridge. I was rather underwhelmed. The sound was just fine, a bit more mellow than my usual disc type piezo, but the volume was so…Continue

Hey guys, Looking at stuff on YouTube the other day I saw where they were making Bongo's using those five gallon water bottles. One guy was wishing he could tune his so I think I came up with an…Continue

Forgive me but this dinosaur is having bother with the technology.
I think this blurb should have gone with the photo of the under saddle p/u
Have used these homemade PVDF coax p/u's on my last two builds and have not had the problems of feedback and over sensitivity you can get with a piezo disc.
The downside is you need to use a preamp.
The first (Guinness box) has a built in Velleman K1803 preamp assembled from a kit.
No.14 I wanted to be accoustic with the option of amplification so it only has the p/u shown in the photo wired to a jack socket connected to a kit built Velleman K4102 pre amp to good effect. The tone ranges from quite a mellow sound to harsh and metallic
Bill : If that does not work ...you may also want to try to place the piezo directly under the bridge, I saw a acouple of videos and tutorials that the guys made a round semihollow circle of wood on which they place the piezo underneat, and the bridge on top of it. ..... the sound was loud & clear.
In my case because I did the neck/body out of a Large wood spoon, the roundness of the sppon actually fits inside the Cigar Box, and does not touch the lid of the of the box only on the sides, so I did placed my piezos inside the box below the bridge position, and so far the sound seems good for me ...
hope this helps
