Kevin M. Kraft answers the question: Who were or are your main musical influences?

Q: Who were or are you main musical influences?

Kevin: Many would probably laugh at the vast array of music that I love and has influenced me. The British band The Electric Light Orchestra epitomizes my typical hybridizing of musical styles and genres, with Jeff Lynne's always reliably captivating slide guitar work sealing it for me. I learned a lot from Lynne and the band about songwriting and arranging and unusual vocals and symphony, even something as "trivial" as the drumbeats Bev Bevan use… Continue

Kevin M. Kraft answers the question: When did you learn how to play the guitar?

Q: When did you learn to play the guitar?

Kevin: That's a difficult question to answer, especially since we're over here at the Nation. I'll answer it in a few ways...
I took a few lesson when I was about twelve or thirteen from a guy in town. I used a Hawaiian guitar strung with thick steel acoustic guitar strings! (laughs) Yeah, ultimately those strings destroyed that guitar! Anyway, after three lessons, the teacher just wasn't teaching me what I wanted to learn, so I slacked off on practicin… Continue

I love the vintage and raw feel of your new song, "One String Escape". As for "Kinder Eyes", what a haunting melody. Very, VERY nice. Your music seems true to the source in how you have rendered it. Post some more!!

hey kevin just stopped by to say thanks fer checkin out my pics today. i,ll see if i can answer a few of yer questions. that lamp guitar sounds kinda like a cross between a banjo and a resonator guitar when ya playing slide on it. i have a short video of it by the name brass lamp guitar and d-bow video. my favorite build is the one i call the blue diamond. and as far as selling them i havent sold any yet but i gave away 5 of them. they all piled up in a corner of my room. thanks again fer all the nice comments kevin.

Hey man,

It's pretty crazy how simple the piezo thing is.

Just get your piezo, a .25" phone jack from radio-shack and some speaker wire. Sauder the two wires that extrude from the piezo to the corresponding prongs on the phone jack. Glue or double stick tape the piezo into the lid of your box. Drill a hole in the back of the box and screw the phone jack into place.

That's it! you got your self a screaming CBG. Be warned though. The pickup is really hot and you have to adjust your amp and volume a bit before it sounds good.

Hope this helps
-B
