just joined looks like a cool site . I'm building a resonater SBG and have bought a cone off ebay ???? and not so shure how to install it with a pick up and plan to build a amp that will rattle the windows any help will be greatfully be accepted sence I don"t know what the hell I"m doing

I like it! Has a nice, "dobro-like" tone. I've got the action set pretty high for slide playing and it's presently in open "G" tuning.
For some reason I want to play "long tall glasses" on it... the old Leo Sayer tune.

matte, I would think your cone needs some space, the cone is simply a speaker. if it has no room to push the air you will get little sound. image if you took a speaker and laid it face down on a table, it will still make sound but will be muffled.

Quick question. Can my "cone" (a pan lid) sit on the bottom of the box, or should it be raised up (for maximum volume)? If it can sit on the bottom of the box, I've got a perfect fitting cover. If not, i've got some work to do.

If the "cone" can sit on the bottom, should I drill holes around the perimeter of the lid (again for more volume?)

still in the R&D phase, i did a bad paint job on the repro lard can and have to test it out again with a bone bridge and 2 more strings. as i said a sound hole isnt necessary but ive been thinking a resophonic is nothing more than a banjo with a non functional guitar body around it. so with the bale handle removed and holes made with the broomstick through it it suspends it perfectly, so im thinking suspend it inside a box. the broomstick straight through and build the neck up off the broomstick like an oriental guitar/buddy guy guitar. im thinking paper mache body corrugated cardboard and brown paper bags sanded and stained to look exactly like wood.

Hi Guys Just about finished my Resonator build #5 it's a little on the small side to my usual builds , infact it's a 1/4 scale model non working but i think it look's kinda cool - theres more photos if your intrested on my page !! thought i would share as its a reso group - next ones going to be a D/Bow and may even get it to work hahah !! best regards juju.

The sound of my DonTomas is not very loud, but the sound is what I was after, metallic, a bit banjo-like. The pickup sounds fine and works without altering the sound much, not good for distorted sounds, no sustain ;-)

I like that, id love to hear it. a trashed guitar that i was thinking about converting to a resonator but i was thinking of using just a large bowl
