Jack White of the White Stripes/The Dead Weather rips on his Daddy Mojo CBG!!!!

Apparently someone backstage gave Jack that Daddy Mojo guitbox before he was to go on stage, and as you can see in the video he played the hell outta that thing, one of my favourite songs by The Dead…

CBG building as a Business?

I got into CBG's because someone gave me a "Old Crowe Medicine Show" CD. It resparked my desire to play blues slide guitar. After searching for a (good) starter guitar, preferably a tricone resonator…

Awesome to see you also hold back the neck mount from the box top, it little more work but well worth it acoustically.

I have to agree with Bluesheart, you very successfully pulled off the vintage look.

Cool idea on the chicken feeder, I'm gonna have to remember that one!

Way to save the that emblem, cool idea.

Oh man, I like that bridge, that's a nice build Doc.

Looking at the mounting of your Lowe's cone it looks as if you maybe glued down the rim of the cone before screwing it down(?) I think I'll do that on mine to tone down the wavy mounting edge instead of making a beauty ring. Be sure to make a video…

That looks like a winner Bob, I can envision the walnut/coin bobbin cut into the box top, It's gonna look sweet mounted in a guitbox. Drop me a line, I've got some ideas I'd like to bounce off of ya.

Nice little stable of guitboxes, you've been busy.

Wow, that's the most awesome double neck CBG i've seen so far. I think the only thing that could make this thing better would be custom made pickups. Nice work man....

Thanks DM, those are chicken feeders i'm using for covers. Unfortunately i've really gotta angle the neck to get the strings to clear the covers, kinda stuck on the tailpiece, might end up going with something like what you guys have done to be able…

Ted's the man, i've bought two flatbed pups from him and he's been a great help to me.

Damn, ya beat me to it. I've been wanting to build a baritone 8 string reso (if that's in fact what you've got there). I bet that thing sounds badass! What type of pickup setup does it have?

I've often wondered what kind of box you use for your builds, they seem to be very consistant in size. Do you have a stockpile of identical wooden boxes or do you make your own boxes. Reason I'm asking is there is a certain size that I have come to…

Awesome shirt Bairfoot, last year my best friend texted me and closed the text with "Piece Out". So now I always spell it that way. Seems most of those crying for (peace) are just lookin' for a (piece)!

It's a trap for giant lizards, grin. No, it's part of what holds the cap in some English Beers, you probably saw it on JuJu's plank...

Thanks Tres, I feel very welcome already. I don't even play guitar but feel very drawn to slide guitar and especially CBG's. It's hard to put my finger on it, hopefully that will change once I build one get to learning to jam. I played bass in a couple of bands in High school and have been playing the drums for about twelve years.
I think with the resources here I can fulfill a long time dream of playin' some down in the mud, back to the roots blues.
Ordered a hand made pickup and it seems I won the auction for a partially built CBG. I like the idea of building the thing I'm about to learn, I imagine it will give me a connection to the music I love!

On behalf of the entire Cigar Box Nation, I would personally like to welcome you into the community. Whether you've already built your own cigar box guitar, are going to build one or are a performer who plays one, there are countless resources in here for you to get more out of these amazing instruments.

Here's a quick 'road map' to help you start navigating thru our community...
· The Free Plans section is our archives containing historic and modern step-by-step plans to build cigar box guitars, banjos, ukuleles and many other instruments.
· The Groups section offers specialized classrooms, discussions and various sub-groups of the Cigar Box Nation. Take some time to browse around and see if there's a particular cigar box group in your area or maybe a subject you needed help with.
· The Forum section is a place for people to ask specific questions to the general community. These questions may be about building, playing, selling and/or designing cigar box guitars and other related instruments.
· There is a Chat Feature at the bottom of every page at the gray bar. Click on Chat and a box will appear with the current chat. I am on the chat many times during the day. If you catch me in there, you can ask questions on building, playing and more. Also, there are many helpful members on there who will do the same. Pop in and say hi.

If you're a musician, make sure to post your own songs in the Music Player on your profile. Also post some pictures and tell us about yourself.

I'm truly glad you joined our community and hope it helps you enjoy these great instruments. There's nothing like a cigar box guitar...

Sincerely,
Shane Speal
