I'm suprized at the lack of activity in here. I thought this would be one of the busiest groups. So anyway, my latest build is from wood saved from the trash trucks grip. Over 100 yr old black…Continue

I seriously thought that this would be a more active group. After all there is so much "treasure" thrown out everyday! Anyway I recently found boxes of old brass plumbing fixtures in a storage unit I…Continue

One notable diving experience is the find of my workbench (B&D RipOff) with one plate split and broken off. Reversed it, ready to go.
There's "Werkbank" printed in huge, bold & plain letters on the footrest, so I didn't even have to wonder what it was I grabbed!!

As for dumpster diving. My buddy and I were all up in that today. He pulled out a really nice metal tool box for himself. And I scored a handle for my diddley bow, a saw and a C clamp. Can't beat that. Plus out of his tool box, we divy'd up the bootie and I got some new wing nuts and bolts brand new and still in the package. What are some people thinking when they throw stuff away? Really!

I'm in! I love finding stuff in the trash to make instruments out of. Thrift shops too, although it almost feels like cheating to actually pay for stuff!
