My own are a little like a dulcijo except that I like either fretted like a standard banjo or completely unfretted. Would be nice to see what others do. I think what makes a banjo a banjo is the high string at the top enabling the clawhammer style of playing. Of course tenor banjos do not have that anyway so what do I know

Glad to see a banjo discussion group start up. I'm a big fan of banjo music, but I am not a player. I also have yet to build one (although some could say a couple of my builds are similar. I wonder, what makes a banjo a banjo? Already we have started talking about 6-stingers, 5-stringers, 4-stringers (tenors), banjo-ukuleles, cigar box banjos, etc. Perhaps there should be a discussion area for each "kind" of banjo and banjo derivation.
