Hi guys, I am completely new to the whole CGB game and just spent all day yesterday on my first build.  It was very much improvised and I only used screws, no glue.

I am wanting to start on my second build soon but really want to take my time on this one to make it as clean and solid as possible... so my question is, which glue (or epoxy or whatever you use) do you guys recommend using to connect a through-neck to a paper covered cigar box?

Thanks,

Brendon.

Just whatever you do, DO NOT USE GORILLLA GLUE ON ANYTHING! The stuff expands instead of contracts.

I screw whenever I can... er... use screws that is ;-)

I believe you Brits call it 'shagging'.

Thanks for the tips guys, the more I think about it, the more I want to stay away from glue... screws seem much more practical.

Another (NEWBIE) question I had (this time about the electronics)...

How do I ground all of the electronics?  I've heard that you can ground to your bridge if it is metal, does this mean I take the ground wires and literally solder them to the bridge?

If anyone can help shed some light in the area it would be greatly appreciated!

i used epoxy resin and it took ages to set so id say a decent super glue would probably be more than enough.enjoy the builds man but dont forget to play.lol.
Downward string pressure is the only stress on a through-neck instrument.  You could almost get away without using any screws or glue.  White glue or regular Titebond is sufficient.

So say I want to have this setup for electronics... a piezo, a humbucker, a 3 way selector to choose between them, and a volume pot, how would I set it up?

Would this wiring diagram work?

If you check the electronics group here, you will probably find all kinds of information, exactly what you are looking for.

Daaaa haa haa haaaaa!

i agree with Chickenbone John..........."Screw  Don`t  Glue"

I wish I would have joined here a long time ago. I had to find out the hard way about gorilla glue. That stuff is bad, It's obvious on any builds where I used it. Now I use ordinary Lepage yellow carpenters glue. I want to try Titebond  but the stuff at the local store closest to me has something called Weldbond. Can anyone tell me if this is similar to Titebond. Even the bottles look similar.
