This could be git related or not. So, what's on your workbench at the moment?

I have 4 scarf joint necks in different stages of work.

A 25" scale pine 5 string neck for a Banjo-Res, A 25" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Strat-Res build, A 24 & 1/2" scale Red Oak neck for my 6 string Double Cut Tele build and a 27" scale 6 string Baritone Conversion neck for a Modern Strat body I have.

Started back working on my Bo Diddly inspired build. I cut the holes for the pickups and cut spaces for mounting the pickups, I radius sanded the fretboard and then glued the fretboard to the neck and top using my clamping jig.

Next up will be to finish sand the fretboard/neck edge area to square everything up. Then It's on to shaping the back side of the neck, installing frets, drilling and installing tuners, drilling and installing bridge posts and paint.

I plan on staining the box sides, back and neck with Ebony stain and finishing with Tru-oil.

The top and headstock will be painted Silver and then get a top coat of Dupli-Color Perfect Match Caymen Green Metallic(sort of Blue-Green) leaving a 1/4" Silver band around the edge. Then I'm going to spray a top coat of Glitterblast Diamond Dust(Clear with Silver Glitter) and then finish out with more Clear.

I think that will look great with the Gold pickups, bridge and hardware. Thinking of Gold Knobs with Abalone tops.

Always busy in my workshop

Nice box Tony.

Having almost finished my first guitar I decided to clean my workbench and install some tools. First, some really cool bench clamps that Santa, aka my wife, delivered. You can see how it will be useful to spokeshave a neck.

All the holes on my instrument are cock eyed, so I know I needed a drill press. I've been looking on craigslist for about a month and not finding anything close. (I live in a fairly rural area so this isn't a surprise.) I know the modern ones are often poorly made so I was really reluctant to buy a new one, but I read lots of good reviews about the Skil so I had my Home Depot order one and I then they delivered to the house for free! I bolted it down today and have already used it.

Man, I never want to hand drill again!

I saw some drill press clamps, cheap, on amazon, I need to order some. Clamping is difficult on that table.

I need to get me a drill press one of these days.......and a table saw....and a small bandsaw...and a..LOL

if you've got room, and a circular saw and a jig saw, I've seen where people took old coffee or end tables, cut a slot, and mounted them upside down under the table for a cheap homemade mini table saw or poor mans bandsaw.

check this guy out;

That's cool Richard, I'll get on that pretty soon.
