Richard Dean replied to Paul Cezanne's discussion How do I stop?
"I did the same thing LOL. First, I built a box, then a couple canjo's, built another box, then decided to go the cigar box route, finished the 1st actual cigar box git, and have over 50 cigar boxes waiting for love...arghhhhhhh"

"There's no stopping now. So you might as well put necks on 'em and string 'em up or you're probably going to die in a box avalanche.  : )"

JL replied to Paul Cezanne's discussion Separate Fretboard, clueless...
"Compensated nuts are included in the diagram cause they are a real thing...but its quite the endeavor.  If you have mis-cut the nut slot to 1st fret, it is an option to fix it with an overlap or recess top nut.  even more work is…"

"I have an old wine box that I want to eventually make into an acoustic git. In my head I'm picturing a full six stringer, but we'll see what I come up with when I finally get to that particular box."

Paul Cezanne replied to Paul Cezanne's discussion First Build Newbie, box too thick mabye?
"That's an interesting approach! I had thought of that. Since I'm using a rod piezo I can just not install it and play it some and see if I'm happy. If I want a different sound, just open up the box, drill for the rod piezo and volume…"

CboxGypsy replied to Paul Cezanne's discussion Separate Fretboard, clueless...
"I would ditch the bolt unless it is a fretless, but that is just how I do it. I cut a groove with my small pull saw and a couple of files where the nut position is and use a nail instead. Doesn't need to be a thick one. It's a similar…"

Paul Cezanne replied to Paul Cezanne's discussion First Build Newbie, box too thick mabye?
"Oh I will! How does that work here? In the Jeep forums I hang out in people have "build threads" where they document their progress. Do we do that or just post finished product?"

Paul Cezanne replied to Paul Cezanne's discussion First Build Newbie, box too thick mabye?
"Yes, just supported at the front and back, not the sides. Is any wood good enough? I have a bunch of cedar left over sitting out in the yard. Or do I need a hardwood?"
