Hi,
I have never used a tin so I cannot answer the first question.
The answer to the humbuckers was discussed previously and if you check out "help with humbucker wiring" from a day or so ago you should find the answer you want - the only thing i would add is that for a wiring diagram check out the seymour Duncan website http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/ this gives multiple pickup wiring options.

If you build a thru neck you will maybe find that the stability of the box is not quite as important as when you attatch the strings to the tin....
