OK so it seems that Wayfinder started something that may have started something that didn't set well with everyone.
So I submit to you, I challenge you to a comparison photo dicussion.
Post your photos of of your most "down to basics" CBG and also your best built "New Fangled" CBG and then let the comments come in.
Give us the description of how each was built, and how you feel it sounds, in your own opinion. If you have a video of the git being played post that as well.
There are only TWO Rules.
Rule # 1. Post only photos and videos of your own builds.
Rule # 2. There are no rules on what's considered "grass roots" or "New Fangled"
Now, Let the fun begin.......

The fretless P90 with the sanded down Perdomo box is beautiful!
Thanks, I had a friend play it last weekend and it sounds as good as it looks.
Newest build would be my 'grass roots'; Rattler, a Diddley Bow. Recycled hockey stick neck, rightcycled cigar box body, stainless sink drain strainer (found it in a box), a tin can for a soundwell / resonator inside. Screw bridge. Screw nut. Screw string trees. 'Merican made handwound pickup from a guy in the next state south (Delta Grooves is in IL). Knob is from an old guitar / parts bin stuff.
New fangled parts; guitar tech pal gave me a random tuner, but it's a Grover locking tuner. Total diddley bow overkill. CTS 500k pot, Switchcraft jack.
"New Fangled". Morgan! It's a four string electric guitar. It's a CBG. I'm good with both.
Grover tuners on a Delta Grooves neck (from eBay), tung oil and F1 oil finished. Undercrown box sanded, stained over several days, resanded for binding look, tung oiled. GFS Wild Dog humbucker pickup with CTS 500k volume and tone, paper in oil tone cap, Switchcraft jack. I cut and drill the brass bridge, and a local metal shop did the bending for me. Graphite Tele compensated bridge pieces.
She's a dirty git. Super thick sounding, but the unwound strings still cut.
I really like that hockey stick neck. Great use of recycled parts. Both gits are beauts!
Thanks! I am really happy with the hockey stick neck. Plays really well, feels great in hand. Have a couple more warped Univox headstock shapes cut on some other sticks I got at the same time.
Making demo videos for the diddley bow. I can play anything from janky blues to speedy banjo sounding punk licks to doom metal to fretless jazz bass on the thing. So happy I built that one stringer.
Nice selection of Gits. I really like the gas cans gits. Gonna have to try and find one to use for myself one of these days.
Thanks.
The only thing I don't like about the gas can is it wants to dent and pop every time you handle it.
Thanks. Make the Tremolo was easy, got all the parts from Lowe's and cost about 5 dollars. It works as good as a Vintage style Fender Strat trem.
The bridge bolt runs through a few nuts that are glued to the top so that the bolt moves when the trem is used. Works like a roller bridge.
