One of my builds is only 1.18" overall thickness at 8"x7.75": I used a steel sound hole cover with a bolt bridge attached to that cover, and bolt on neck. It has a loud vibration withstanding the small interior.

if its acoustic it might. If electric (mag pickup) might not matter as much. if you don't want the hastle, make it electric.

I agree with Wes on this one. If ya leave it thin,.it might have a weaker sound being acoustic. The fatter the box the more volume it will have and make it louder IMO. Make this one electric!
