We are organizing a CBG workshop held one Saturday a month at the 61 roadhouse & kitchen in Webster Groves MO. (St. Louis Area).  This is also the home to the St. Louis CBG festival each year.

Bill Kunz of 61 has been generous in offering us a place to meet, practice, discussed ideas and what ever members decide to do with the time. Gary Herget and myself are contacts for this club and are open to ideas to make this a fun club. As soon as we have commitment from members, we can set up a Saturday each month to meet mornings. We haven't set a day or start time as of yet. We need to know who can commit at least to a start up and discuss as a group when and how we want to run this. Possibilities are great!

Kinda feel like a sweat hog.

Welcome back!

Smilingdog, all the way back on page seven of this thread you posted the singer/songwriter contest entry form. Got a question. I need a fretted guitar. Not sure if I'll have one done by the time I need to send in an entry. Would a reclaimed neck on a hand made body constitute a home made instrument? A fretted neck from C B Gittiy?

Recycled CBG are fine. What we don't want to see is a Gibson/Fender/Ibenez/Epiphone etc, you got the picture. Many of us make these CBG's with fender necks etc. That's fine, we're trying to keep with tradition and not bleed over into a whole other type of music fest. So don't worry about the neck. Stick that baby on a box and come on!

Put some more word out in song wrighter foram on Facebook

Great idea, thank you sir!

I have extrs if u need use of one

Totally cool. The other type of music. Well.... i really tried. Sat down and remembered all the Son House, Mississippi Fred McDowell, John Lee Hooker I've listened to all these years. What pops out? Primus and Funkadellic. I've watched a lot of the vids on this site. Listened to a lot of vids on youtube. There's not a song done on a three string guitar like it. I'll submit it. if it's chosen that's cool. If not that's cool too.

I'll have to make my own box. Stick this cheezy copy neck on it. Wail away. Still be a three stringer.

About this song contest. Can an entry be emailled? Or will I have to send it post only? If email you may have post the address here. In truth half this site doesn't work for me at all. I got your PMs. But only AFTER I tried to send you one.

After singing it differently, changing lyrics, changing the guitar parts a few times I think I finally got something. Now all I need to do is learn how to sing..... :)

Please feel free to email song entries to: frogking1958@yahoo.com. Fill out you application, Send the lyrics or music score, Mp3 and it is best sent as an attachment. I will respond to all submissions to confirm valid entry.

How many here were hoping for a builders contest this year?

would have participated.  would have been a nightmare to judge.  even harder than the song writing.  And, where to get "experts" to form judging panel?  Or, popularity contest?  don't know.  would be interesting however.  I have participated in a "juried" folk art event with my CBGs.  Like Alice in Wonderland.
