I know I've probably came across this somewhere but was in information overload and wasn't paying attention. What are these string of numbers referring to tuning the instrument. For example 135 145. Do I need to purchase an enigma decoder or is it as simple as "kiss" keeping it simple stupid. Thanks

Just couldn't leave it alone, nooo least stir the pot. LOL

yeah. lets just leave it at major scales for now... lol

next thing you know you will be trying to explain modes...lol

LOL Both of you shut up! I got my toy, let me enjoy it before it gets broken with quantum mechanics and string theory. Holy crap, Batman!

lol.. string theory is easy ....  isnt that where we started?   lol 3 strings tuned to open G 151...lol

LOL you win! I knew sooner or later, one of you was going to bite. Thank you Sheldon! Seriously though you both were a big help in mudding up, I mean clearing up the water on this and I appreciate it.

LOL

Finally, a TAH DAH moment! When I started (several years ago)playing dulcimer I knew I had 3 strings and 5 fingers------everything else was rocket science to a caveman. It was hard to find someone to "turn the light on" for all this chords and stuff. I ended up writing down the fret numbers to press for certain chords, but I never knew why. This discussion has helped tremendously, now I can put the info in practice and start making sense out of what I am doing. Thanks for the info y'all.

I was the same way with electronics. As a kid(back when we had common sense and knew not to "f" with shit) I'd do projects from "Popular Electronics", winding isolation transformers, making a trigger coil for a strobe light. Follow directions, they worked! Why? Didn't have a clue. In basic electronics in the Air Force all this bits and pieces floating around in my mind would drop into place like a missing puzzle piece, driving my instructors nuts. This is the same scenario. Sheldon and Yoda have been a great help. LOL
