Screwed up neck length 17 and 1/2 inches

Well...I kept making mistakes cutting the headstock nut area. The neck is 17 and 1/2 inches ...can that be salvageable?

Put the neck away..for now. I managed to snug a sliver into the nut area. ...but a break from this neck is in order until I plan out something. Too many errors on my part

Sometimes it good to step back and take a break. Don't worry, you'll get it fixed up.
