tiki!! great stuff man!!!!
what a picture!!!!!!!!!!! hey!!!....that album is still pretty good and stevie boy has roots in the blues!!!!! and really i am surprised someone hasn't requested Dark Side of the Moon previously as it is one of the best albums of all time!!!!!
a few odds and ends!!!!!!!
1) the marshall tucker you got for me (i think 2 live bootlegs) are fantastic and great sound!!!!! hope the group members take advantage of that!!!!!.....and any more, i had forgotten how great their music was!!! live stuff is very blues based!!!! i think most group members would dig it!!!!
2) which brings me to another discussion thought or just maybe trying to find some old stuff from these guys.....around the time of marshall tucker - you had several great awesome "Southern Rock" bands out there.....1) marshall tucker 2) skynard 3) amazing rythm aces 4) what about black oak arkansas which was very blues based and of course 5) the allman brothers!! wonder if members would like a "best of" from some bootlegs from live shows which all of these bands were famous for!!!!!!!
3) lastly....i downloaded today, one of a members requests from a while back Elephant from White Stripes......Jack White is a fantastic guitar player who plays a variety of instruments and has recorded a variety of styles of music.....and a lot of blues....his version of death letter by son house is erie good!!!!!!!!!!!! maybe some live stuff from them as well......he is a fantastic player....wasnt there a dvd of something he, Edge, and jimmy page did a couple of years ago....any audio from that?????? i am wearing you out man!!!!!!!!!!
i love this group!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lastly...a hidden gem is guitarist jimmy dawkins (you found like 4 things of his for me!)....he is awesome man, and has a great sound!!!!!!!!!! it is great to find some of these lesser known guys who are fantastic players!!!!!!!!
yu rule man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
here are a few more for ya!!!!!! 1) anything from kenny brown...he has a new one out next week, (Can't Stay Long)......and an album out called (Stingray) that is very good and some of your group members may like........also.....any old live bootlegs of the Marshall Tucker Band???????????? a great southern rock country -blues band from yesteryear!!!!!!!
mike

Hey Tiki,
here's a challenege. A guy named Ric (Rik?) Payne from the Uk has an instruction DVD (two in fact) on how to play Ry Cooder stuff. It's not all that expensive, but if you could find it, it would be sensational. I'm also keen on any instructions DVD's for lap style guitar--weisenborns...roots music...rather than hawaiin.
cheers
(Hope Life's being kind to you...guess it's warmer on the Gold Coast than it is down here in Canberra!)
cheers,
David T
i'll have another look tomorrow - tough one, so far i've found a PDF file - with some tabs, that are included with the dvd ( but no dvd yet )

Hey Tiki, here's a challenge for you. When I was a teenager (many years ago!) a friend loaned me an LP (ahhh the old vinyl records) of a blues band called Savoy Brown (British band I think) I don't remember the name of the album (only the band) but I do remember my favourite song was "Someday People" or something like that. I think the album would have been recorded around 1971-72. Do you think you can find it for me?
yur a god mr tiki!!!!!
live allman brothers discs are fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the white stripes live are a gem.....just wanted ya to know.....
also, the eric gales cd is pretty good...kinda reminds of living colour band music......interesting notes on eric gales that group members may not know...he is a born and raised in memphis guy and at 14 won some kind of guitar competition and played in his teens guitar for many blues greats....however he got on crack cocaine and did a major stint in prison....got out a couple of years ago, promptly lined up some festival gigs, and promptly went back to prison...the memphis paper (the commercial appeal) did a story on him with some video of him playing solo in prison.....it is erie good!!!!! powerful straight blues stuff.......amazing......in this newspaper interviews he blames no one but himself ........interesting stuff.....
he is an amazing talent..hope he keeps his shit together......
