Well, maybe more than one question.
First where are good places to order piezos from?

Found many types, with different Hz ranges, 2 wire, 3 wire, no wires, what is the correct type?

The bottom line is I'd like to order some, prefer not Radio Shack where I have to remove them from a plastic case.

Okay one, one more little question: I have lots and lots of the wire used to wire inside houses for telephones. It is a very small copper wire. Is it any good for wiring electronic in guitars? I'm sure there are some telephone guys out there.

The ones I've been buying are from Radio Shack, about two bucks. they are marked "Piezo Transducer Element," and are about 1" in diameter. You have to carefully break apart the plastic casing, and also solder new audio-quality leads in place of the skinny stock ones.
At least, most folks recommend doing that; I have.

You'd have to decide if it was worth the extra 14 bucks for the ready-to-go ones that Tiny has links to.
The copper wire I have says 24 awg. The only disadvantage I can see to it is single strand 24awg which may break easier that multi strand. I got a big coil of it I'd like to start using for something. Not going to wire anymore phone plug-ins in my house.

Sure appreciate all the help. I put a bid in for 10 on e-bay. If I don't win I will just get some on buy it now. You are correct they are inexpensive, so I will feel free to play around with them.
You might want to investigate Electronics Goldmine(just do a google search) The have really good prices and quick shipping.

Steady, Ted, steady, I assumed he speakth of Electronic Goldmine the first item listed. It fit the description of what he said. You point is good though, as a courtesy to otheres it is very helpful to put a link in. BUT, I rather get the info and I can do the leg work, if necessary.

This is a GREAT place. So much info and sharing.

NOW about this wire I have....
Paul, about your wire...use it. My father spent 43 yrs. with BellSouth so I have alot of station wire in my shop. The solid wire is fine for wiring piezo to jack and controls, it's not gonna be moving so breakage is not a problem. You got plenty of colors to code with. I have doubled the ground wire and then twisted the three together to make a simpletons type shielding. The stuff is also very easy to bend an make look neat.

Free wire is (almost) always good wire...jkevn
being extremely cheap, (that "hell, yes" was a chorus of two ex wives and a few girlfriends), I like to use piezos I take out of childrens toys. It's like taking toys from a ....well yeah I only use broken toys aquired through Sally Ann or young nephews and nieces---it is also how I got my Elmo guitar which rests next to the workbench for inspiration "You're Rockin' Now!"
