Here's what I'm thinking.

I intend to make a box out of scrap wood and a solid lump of Mahogany going through the middle for strength.

Now here's the thing, is it still a Cigar Box guitar if the box is not a Cigar Box?

I've made guitars out of Biscuit Tins, which can seem like a Cigar Box guitar, but are far from it, but is this going to be one of them?

That says CBG to me

TinTar, TinGit, never heard those names before, I usually just refer to them as my Biscuit Tin Builds and then name them after girls.

Mark I is Bonnie Raitt, because it reminds me of her in some ways.

Mark II is Elvira, named after the girl who gave me the tin.

Mark III is Sybil, my Girlfriend.

Speaking of Mark III, what would you call this then?

Basstar, Guibass or just plain Nuts.

That looks like it would be fun to play.

nothing short of unique is what I call it, a double necked Guitar/Bass Biscuit Tin bodied guitar named Sybil, It belongs on CB Nation, one crazy ass unique build.

It is fun to play, but it is very heavy, its got 2 lengths of solid Mahogany running through it and those necks ain't light either. The tone is unreal, the guitar is resonant and the Bass is thumping, but both are just a little twangy.

you miss my meaning, its twangy when I play it acoustically, the reaction of the strings resonating within the hollow Tin body, the body itself creates the twang, its subtle, I describe the ton as being somewhere between "This Charming man" by the Smiths and "Scar Tissue" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

once I plug it in and have my little Tobacco tin pre amp plugged into it, my get much more of a Cigar Box tone, almost gritty and unrefined.

Yeah, she just plain nuts.  ; )

Nuts is the right word, it used to contain chocolate covered Nuts, the cashews were nice at least.

Yeah but I thought calling it Chocolate Covered Nuts was too much.

Still a nice looking piece of work though...

I'd say both necks have a similar quality in terms of tone, especially acoustically, both have a good twang.

Theoretically CBG are a small subset of the stringed instrument class . so all of these "non" CBG's are related to far older instruments back to Ancient Mesopotamia and all over the world.

The humble stick in a box with strings is a noble instrument with a vast heritage that is not just depression American CBG's

call it what you want , as Shakespeare said "a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet"

Put a cigar in it and then remove it..? ;>)

That's what I said Buggy.

If it's built with a homemade box - it's a CBG.

If it has a pie pan(or other such metal pan) in it - it's a CBRG( Cigar Box Reso Guitar).
