Slide brother, slide.

Nah, there are a bunch of ways. Best thing to do is to listen to the masters -- Delta masters that is. Robert Johnson, Son House, Charlie Patton, Muddy Waters, Bukka White, John Lee Hooker (talkin' blues), Elmore and Skip James, Howlin' Wolf, Big Joe Williams among a few. Its a style more than anything else.

Play on!

Well, I personally don't think the Blues tone is produced by the amp. It is in the hands of the player. 1515 tuning is okay, but you might get better results if you add a 3rd. I get a lot of milage out of 5135 (Dgbd). You should contact Daddy Stove Pipe. He is a great guy and definitely would share his electric tone insight. Enjoy.
Here is an example played acoustically.

I use open "G" on my resonator, DGBD. I like to tweak my little amp a bit to the trebly side, and use enough distortion to get some edge but that's about all.
As Kent says, it's not so much the amp or the instrument as phrasing and dynamics.
Really, the only thing I play that gets that swampy blues feel is a one-string diddley bow. I use a E string tuned G, or maybe C (my singing range). I use a slide and a small amp with lots of overdrive.
At festivals, even simple tunes will stop people in their tracks.
It also works well with bigger amps as long as I use a distortion or overdrive pedal.
Playing a diddley bow thru a 100 watt bass amp is a religious experience.

Hey Ron. I listen to a ton of Daddystove pipe and i think he uses a little effects or something.Besides his style and all that.He just sounds so unique and sooooo smooth.I agree that you should send him a message and ask,iam sure he would respond.I live in Gilbert also so we could get together and play thru my amps and see what we can come up with.
Piss yer ol' lady off and make her leave ya.
Drink a bottle of whiskey.
Lose yer job.

Once you're done with those three steps, you shouldn't have a problem.
Hell Shane iam on my way.Got 2 1/2 things crossed off the list.
