Is 3/8" thick too thin for a three string head?
I shaved is down from a thickness of 1/2" tapering yo 3/8" at the end
I looked at some other head designs with the flat head design and appears most have tuners that stick up more than a normal full 3/4" without shaving
Don't want to have a weak head
Thanks and Happy New Year

Standard tubers from Gitty
The post extends 3/4" at the thinnest point which is at the head end, 5/8" nearest the nut
I always use grommets if that helps the reinforcing

I use 9/16" or more technically, 1/2" with some veneer on top, which in the end makes a total of 9/16". I use this thickness to accommodate the tuners.

If you screw up and make it too thin, you can possibly add some wood on the top or back (or several layers of veneer) and thicken it back up again.

Or if you feel it's too weak, start over.

Curious about adding the veneer
Have a pic to show?
It has an awkward look with the tuner posts sticking out so far as compared to the other builds with full 3/4" head thickness and only about 1/2" showing
Guess once strings are wound that will help

How many strings will your git have? If it's a six stringer than I'd say best to start over. Three stringer should be fine. As long as your tuners fit your in great shape.

I went and measured most of the guitars I have here. Even the Fender bass has a head of 9/16.
