This is my first post here.

I was wondering if the neck is glued to the face of the cigar box on an acustic guitar?  Ive seen several who did this, but assumed it would reduce the vibration of the sound box.

This is my first build which will be a prototype.  The neck started out as a tounge and groove floorboard.

This is waht I have so far.

Not much I know.

Thanks,

Chris

You can just scallop out the neck where it passes under MOST of the soundboard, leaving a bit touching near the ends for stability, either glueing or bolting it in place... or you could do something entirely different!

By "too tight" I assume you mean that I should plane the face of the head by a couple of MM to fully expose the recesses that are cut into the tuner shafts?

I do the same as clockwork,so that the lid has plenty  of room to vibrate.Looking at your photos the heads look to be a bit tight.I`d probably shave 3 or 4mm off to allow for the strings to be fitted neatly. You`ll need 2 or 3 full turns so doesn`t look quite enough room as it is.Other than that it`s looking fine.
