Just thinking about cutting a lid for a Dobro cover plate.. I have a scroll saw but am worried about rough edge cuts and chipping..

Sounds more like a job fr a bandsaw/grinder to me, but what do you have to lose? Surely the scroll saw blade will break before the motor is damaged. Nasty edges is what the good lord gave us sandpaper for :)

If you have a Dremel you can attach a cut off wheel to make your cut.

Drill punch a pattern in it.

A coping saw with a fine tooth metal cutting blade works well since the speed of cutting is slower than a scroll saw..

The blades cut better if you rub beeswax or Ivory bar soap on the teeth to act as a lubricant.

If your lid is aluminum you'll want to have a good stiff wire brush on hand to clean out the teeth periodically.

WOW great ideas.. thanks this gives me a starting point...
