That little thing is a waste of money for a bass ...and you'll not get a really cheap bass practice amp.  You need a decent sized speaker and a fair amount of wattage if it's not to sound like a f*rt in a biscuit tin...even something like a Fender Rumble 15 is around the £100 mark, so used may be your best bet. Most bass amps are way more powerful in terms of wattage than an equivalent guitar amp...for example my bass player will take a 300W amp to a gig even if I'm only using a 22W combo.

The Fender Rumble 15 has few high points.  It has a nice Aux In jack so you can plug in an mp3 or tablet w/ drum machine.  So that's nice.  The volume of the Aux channel is controlled by the device independent of the main amp volume.  Again, that's nice.  I think I got one new for about $100.

As for being a good sounding bass amp.  Well.  Not so much.  OK for entry level, I guess (which is where my daughter and I are), but need more thump than this will deliver.

thanks for the reply.

I dont want to spend bucks as this is only bass guitar I'll be making.

I made it not because I wanted one but to see if I can ...out of a violin body.

I'll probably just sell it on or give it away.

Totally agree with Chickenbone. Not something you'll be happy with at any price. It takes a lot of energy to move a speaker enough to cause low sound waves. The speaker also has to be designed to handle the massive amount of movement needed to push a low frequency wave. It's never a good idea to play a bass threw a guitar amp. It will shred the speakers. I've done it at very low volumes to show my bass off. Haven't played the bass thew the guitar amp sense. On the hunt for a good bass amp myself.

Keep checking eBay and the like, you can sometimes find something for Local Pickup at a really good price, plus a bit of petrol money.

I have yet to learn to play slide on a cbg!

I started and then I cut my thumb which is documented on here.lol

'Scuse me but.. MWAAHAHAHAHhahhaha HAR HAR HEEEEE HEEE Heeeeeee??? what deya mean wayfinder?

I will be selling one of my amps the biggest one I have a peavy rage 158.

taken chickenjohnny advice a getting a roland cube for my 3 stringers later.

I have a dinky amp like the one in the ebay list above but thats going into the cbg box when I get a round to making it.

I also have  Kinsman 10w amp, might put that in my shed to test the gits out before I finally complete the cbg.

I have no intention of playing in front of a crown, just purely for my own pleasure so I have no need to spend big bucks on amps.anyway we'll see what comes.

If you're not interested in gigging you might want to consider a software solution. If you have a way of getting your guitar, or bass, into a computer, tablet, even a phone, there are some pretty good amp simulators and they're dirt cheap.

it take me all my time just to use the pc let alone all the fancy stuff.lol

wayfind you little rascal!  lol

now you've got me thinking of another Bass guitar.

as it happens I do have another violin body.

might have go at that  using proper pick up rather than a piezo  that I have in the above guitar.

I looked at this but ended up buying the Marshall version off ebay for not much more money, I managed to get a new one but used often don't go for too much I got the MS2 mini stack but there is the ms4 mini full stack as well.

Works well as practice amp on electric guitar wouldn't know about base. Marshall version has nice retro look as well.

John it depends what you want to do - you can use any amp for bass, it won't produce the same responses as a purpose built bass amp but will more than do for practice.  I use Ampeg bass amps with smallish speakers for recording bass and my Lowebow, not cheap but pushes out the  lowest of lows :-)

get a Marshall with a 15" speaker and it'll rattle yer neighbours floorboards...
