Hello everyone, I just wanted to make a quick post about the recent changes here at CBN. As many of you already know, I took over running Cigar Box nation from its founder, Shane Speal. While there was a financial side to it, the transition was marked by friendship and cooperation. While I have made some minor tweaks and changes, including a redesign of the site look and feel, I am committed to keeping CBN much the same as it has always been without major changes: a bustling, vibrant community that is the headquarters of the cigar box guitar movement.

Late last week, once the final steps of the ownership transition was complete, Shane Speal chose to leave Cigar Box Nation entirely, deleting his account from the server. Unfortunately as part of this all of the content he had created and contributed over the years was also deleted. I have spoken to him about this and he wanted me to let everyone know he is very sorry about this - he did not mean to delete his content from the Nation. While we are all sad to see Shane step away from the nation, I truly hope that it is the right step for him and that in time he will be able to return to the community he founded. As I have said before, to me he is and always will be the king of the cigar box guitar.

We are coming up on the third anniversary of Cigar Box Nation on December 10, and I am confident that with the support and contributions of so many great members we will continue to grow and thrive. I would also like to thank all of you that have taken the time to offer congratulations and give advice. I appreciate it!

DUDE, no one mentioned argument. Even in a discussion, new ideas can come forth and you move forward - you move onward. hence my choice of words. If your feelings were hurt/insulted because of my choice of words, I am sorry, not my intent ! Realize that sometimes words without personal presense can be misfelt.

So find some common ground and lets move forward !

Dude . . . it's not an argument. Just two guys discussing ideas. "Moving forward" comes from debating ideas.

Revival is a good word. As I've been thinking about it throughout the day though, the word "Movement" keeps popping into my mind. I do kinda like the star/fist/cbg logo... though I wonder if the color could be moved away from the magenta color.

Don't change to much in to short a period of time... I know that it can be tempting, but it's a poisoned apple... sudden change in familiar surroundings tends to trigger not only confusion, but in some cases a sense of alienation.
Heh-heh...he said Alien Nation...heh-heh...

I find it just slightly humorous that the words, " Revolution," "revival," and "movement" are getting tossed around like this. Reminds me of the scene from "Life Of Brian," where the Jewish fringe freedom fighter group is trying to figure out what to call itself.

I like Ben's idea of retaining the logo ( still hoping to acquire a black T-shirt with it on the front;-) ); I also agree about the color being too magenta (not "true"red enough).

Maybe it needs another slogan, sorta Nike-like: "Share. Build. Play." Or something like that...but maybe not just yet; Clockwork's is right about too much change too quickly. Give it a year, maybe...
Got to agree with that, Ben.  Slow and steady.

The logo color is fine with me, Black and orange, Harley Racing. Besides, are some of you staring at the logo a bit too much? LOL!

Or Maybe "JUST DO IT!" would be good.

slightly humorous??? I wish you would have posted this yesterday before I got the word "revival" tattooed across my chest....now what do i do?.....this is not good!

BeetleJuice, BeetleJuice, BeetleJuice!

There. Now how do ya feel?

Maybe you could get "Revolution" tattooed above it, and "Movement" below it. Just to cover all eventualities.

"Revolution Revival Movement" - not a bad name for a band, actually.
Cigar Box Insurrection, Cigar Box Resurrection, Cigar Box Evolution, Cigar Box Devolution... DEVO-lution? We are DEVO, We are DEVO... O.K., this is getting silly.
I don't like any of this rigamarol!
