I just order the book tonight. I can't wait for it to get here.

Hi everybody,

I was looking through my copy of Handmade Music Factory as was wondering if any body else has noticed that the dimmensions in my book on page 78 in the Materials section, second line down in that section say,  [ Piece of maple for the neck, 1 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 3/4" [ 40 x 190 x 20mm] I was wondering if any one knows what the correct measurements should be or if I am reading thing terribly wrong and the neck should be that short and that wide. [LOL] Reminds me of the two piliots that landed on a runway and said that it was a short runway but it shure was wide. Any one else notice any discrepencies in the book?

I am not trying to put the book down as I think it is great as it shows me some alternate ways of doing things and gets me thinking of diffrent things to make and do.

Thanks for any info, C Cook

I'll check it out when my copy gets here. sometimes things get past the editors and this could be one of them times.

It's a great book overall but yeah some things do get by the editors. I noticed that one of the wiring diagrams is missing a ground lead to the tone pot. Ah well, it's good to have a little challenge in it, can't give away ALL the secrets up front or nobody ever learns anything new!

I posted a picture of my latest build on Facebook, and one of my friends left this comment:

"I just saw a book at the Woodcraft store that had your name on it. It was alllll about making stringed instruments this way. You should go check it out one day on lunch or something, it's right across the street from the mall."

I was grinning ear to ear when I read that.

Cookie,

I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that was supposed to be measurements for a fretboard for a 14" scale Ukelele, not for  a CBG.

Good book, picked it up a few days ago at the book store, it gave me some good ideas for sure, now I've just gotta find an old ironing board.
