Gary and they work fine for me

Gary it depends what pickup you are using I think - I use standard acoustics with a piezo and either acoustics or electrics with a magnetic pup - don't think it makes a lot of difference but die hard players might!

Can anyone advise me on the best type of strings to use on a three string electric CBG

I'll be at the Upton Blues Festival, but only in late evening - booked tickets for the Royal International Air Tattoo not realising that it was the same day, oops. I'd love to be able to meet CBGers from Upton area.  If the last few years are anything to go by - Upton can put on really good festivals - not just blues ones.

Hi all. Great pic john. Love the metal look.  What tuning do you have for your 4 strings? And does any one know seasick steves tunings for his 4 stringers? (cbg and hub cap)

gary, the sound holes on #1 and#2 are'pipe support sleeves' for 22mm Polyplumb plastic pipe, also comes in 15mm, just pushed tight through body.  get them at your local plumbing shop- a few pence each. they are made of s/steel but also come in black plastic, they protude into the body about an inch or so and add a little resonance too. while in republic of ireland i found some in bright copper which i'll use in the future. good luck with your first build,i've made just two so far ,still lots to learn- but it's all here...john

I know the purists amongst you will say go out and scavenge for bits for your build but this is my first and I want to get on with it so can you give me ideas for the sound holes as well as sink strainers

re: the tin works, yes mark sharp chisel is ideal if you're careful, i couldn't have made any without the help and advice found on this site.he's my #2 build,it was meant to be 3 strings, polished wood but then i found 5 sheets of aluminium- oh well, time i started the next bit of sillyness,- don't know what that'll end up looking like..
