Hello CBG fans!
I am a Navy nurse that just arrived here in Afghanistan working with the British at one of the hospitals here. I came across this group through Matt. He was very excited to share the wealth and information on a group he seems to really love.
I, myself, could not play music to save my life. Only sing in the shower or in the car. My friend Carrie, however, has been trying to find a guitar to play and I thought this might be a nice surprise for her before she gets folks back home to ship her the guitar she already owns. Figured this would be something new for her to learn, and give her the music playing ability that she is looking for. Can anyone help me give Carrie the gift of a CBG? Who knows, she might be able to teach me to play a song or two?!
Thanks,
LT Virginia Sullivan

Same here! I will write, and look forward to teaming up, not only on this project, but other things as well. Jess
You two are too funny! I love the team effort.. I'm very excited! I think that it would be best if you both made one with Navy nurses in mind and see what the two of you come up with separately?! Then we can post the pics when they come together!! :) just a thought.

Sounds like a plan, but you're cramping our style with the competition thing. So, who am I building for, you or Carrie? Do we need to salute to the east every time we have a conversation? OK, enough already!
Please contact me at my personal email . . . jallred489@gmail.com . . . with all the info so I can get going on this thing, 'cause I'm burning daylight, and you need a guitar.
Are you right or left handed? Any special design; insignias; special other stuff you cannot live without; or are you giving me free rein on this build? I also need full name; shipping address; military packaging and address requirements for shipping; etc., to make this work.
All kidding aside, I'm really looking forward to making a guitar for you, and I know you'll love it. And, take a look at my blog occasionally http://totalrojoguitars.blogspot.com/, and let me know what you think.
Geez, I like this new penpal (cyberfriend) arrangement. Whatta hoot!
Stay safe and well.

Jess, I have been shipping CBGs to APO addresses using a 36 x 12 x 4 box via USPS and the shipping charges have been under 20 dollars. I just make liberal use of bubble wrap and so far they have all arrived intact.
Thanks for helping out!

Richard,
Really sir! I have only the most respectful intensions. ;-)
Joking asside, I was raise "Southern humble" where every female was treated as a lady and addressed a "Ma'am". How much more should our women in uniform and service to their country be "saluted" at every opportunity. I have a retired Army nurse from WW2 in my congregation (she made the rank of Major before leaving the Army). I sometimes grin and honor her with a salute. Behind that grin is a deep and abiding appreciation for what she and all who serve have given us. That is why I am so committed to this project.
Sorry if I went "soap box" on the subject. I just feel it so deeply. I have to sons-in-law who have served and suffered. Also many friends from many different eras. It's one of the few subjects that can get me going. Check out # 19 "Shut Your Yap" on my juke box on my home page...http://www.cigarboxnation.com/profile/WichitaSam if you want to hear my feelings.
the best,
Wichita Sam

I think Richard is attempting to put the HooDoo VooDoo on our plan, but we got the moxie to be foxy, so he doesn't stand a chance. q;-)
Have you heard anything further from the LT? I left her a message, so I'm awaiting a response before I move beyond the basic build, which is done. Just need to deco that thing and ship.
Yea, thanks Jess... I'm building for Carrie. You need to encourage LT Virginia that CBGs are great for beginning/inexperienced players and that she JUST HAS TO HAVE ONE!!!!! Even if it doesn't take, it will be one more for our medico's at Bastion Hospital....
the best,
WS
Man are those nurses lucky. You guys are the best!! Those officers have a hard job especially now with our group out of there. They will be flying solo from now on. Still they are great and talented nurses so I know all is in safe hands. Hope all goes well with my friends at Camp Bastion. My prayers are with you all

Sam:
No sweat. As soon as Virginia writes, I'll convince her she cannot live without one of my guitars. If she looks at my blog, she'll realize that we do serious stuff and that it is easy to play.

Matt:
We're the lucky ones! The nurses are to be held in high esteem for what they are doing, we're wusses compared to them!
