Hi - I'm an Air Force Chaplain from Denmark, Who just joined this Group. I was already a member of the Facebook-Group for Martin BackpackerGuitars, because I always bring one of these when deployed. This is where I was told to visit the CBG-Group in order to ask for a CBG-guitar/ukulele for free.
I've been serving in the Air Force for 9 years an have been deployed as many times in different positions (we do not deploy as long periods as our American colleagues do). I often find, that playing music softens up relations, and that's what life's all about, I think.
I don't know, if you by any means do serve people from my country too, but in that case, I would love to apply for an instrument, while I am not able to build one for myself.
Welcome to The Nation and thank you for serving your country. This group is not just for American military members, we have sent instruments to Canadian and British service members too.
I am sure we can get an instrument for you. But...
I don't know what the shipping costs would be. In the US, the shipping to a military address is considered domestic as far as the postal costs go. So we can ship to Afghanistan for the same price as we ship to a location in the US. Also, some military units have restrictions on what types of packages they will accept.
Normally, shipping a box this big to anywhere in Europe costs about $60 USD.
Do you have any experience with receiving packages from other countries?
No, unfortunately, I don't have any experience on that field.
Maybe you have some instrumentbuilders in Europe as well ? Maybe in Germany (Ramstein), or ... ? In that case, I might be able to turn the steering-wheel that way in the vacation season.
If not, I'll find a way to pay that bill, or make someone cover the expences. You can send it to me as a Cash-on-delivery-posting.
Greetings from Ole Ras.
Thanks a lot for your work and the quick shipping. The CBG arrived at my home saturday about noon. It it a fantastic instrument. I'm impressed by it's sound and the great possibilities in this amazing instrument. Off course, I'm still just learning how to, butr it seems to be a good companion wherever I go.
I have not yet been doing any Photos, but that will come. From sunday, I have my summervacation, and then I will try to get along with my new toy.
If you ever come to Europe, give me a message, and I might be able to help you along.
Yours sincerely, Ole Ras.
