Hello CBG fans!
I am a Navy nurse that just arrived here in Afghanistan working with the British at one of the hospitals here. I came across this group through Matt. He was very excited to share the wealth and information on a group he seems to really love.
I, myself, could not play music to save my life. Only sing in the shower or in the car. My friend Carrie, however, has been trying to find a guitar to play and I thought this might be a nice surprise for her before she gets folks back home to ship her the guitar she already owns. Figured this would be something new for her to learn, and give her the music playing ability that she is looking for. Can anyone help me give Carrie the gift of a CBG? Who knows, she might be able to teach me to play a song or two?!
Thanks,
LT Virginia Sullivan

Hi Virginia,
Welcome to the Nation and thank you for your service to your country! I am sure we can hook you up with a CBG or two.
If we can swing it, would you like one for you and one for her?A three string CBG is incredibly easy to play since they are tuned in open tuning, so you can play thousands of songs with just one finger on the fretboard.
No guarantees since it depends on finding a builder or builders to donate. But we will see what we can do.
Dan
Virginia,
I could put something together for you by the end of next week.... I do some folk art CBGs... (Ask Matt to show you the "Blues Hound"). If you have a theme, let me know and I'll do my best for you. I agree with Dan, a three string fretted would be the easiest/quickest to learn on.
Thank you for caring for those to give their best for us all.

Wichita Sam,
Checked out some of your pictures and masterpieces and that looks great. I have no real specific requests. Carrie is a Navy nurse too, she works in the Emergency Department......I'll let you be creative- everything you've made looks great. I'll definately give it a go with whatever you send Carrie...maybe my music days will not end with singing in the car!! :)
Let me know what you need and we'll take it from there!
Thanks for the enthusiasm,
Virginia

Hey Jesse I just took a look at your work. Un f$%%**ing believable!! your work is pure art in the best sense. I am the matt6 that keeps pointing people in this direction. I am finally heading home from here very soon but I hope the word continues to spread. You are a true and kind gentleman for offering to help my shipmates out. Thanks to each and every one of you

Hi LT Sullivan: I would be happy to assist you in getting a guitar into the hands of your friend Carrie. Take a look at my blog http://totalrojoguitars.blogspot.com/ and decide if what I build is something that may interest you. If so, let me know where and how I may be able to send a CBG your way, unless of course you have already made contact with someone who is providing an instrument. Also, if you hear of others who are interested in a CBG, send them my way. It is my way of thanking you for all you do to protect the freedom we enjoy. Kind regards. Stay well and safe. Jess Allred
Virginia,
Contact me at wichitasam@yahoo.com .. I'd suggest you get Jess involved with a build for either you or Carrie and I"ll take the other. If you have a unit insignia or a theme that is a good start for a folk art top.... I'll start prepping a top and we can do some design work and the build can start tomorrow.... shot for completion by then end of next week.

Wichita Sam

Jess,
Retirement? From the regular grind and the burden of responsibility? Absolutely! But, I expect to be more "employed" in retirement than now and in some important ways, more fulfilled.... Besides, grandparenting is calling me big time.... ;-)... feel free to email me wichitasam@yahoo.com and we'll get with the "LT" (don't you love being around a woman you have to salute?!!! :-) and decide who does a CBG for which one... the best, Wichita Sam
