I feel like this takes up less space. If the arm went to the back it takes up more space in my little home. Must change out the string to something not covered in plastic.

I found the segment of the Gitty Show.  The "whammy" points outside the bucket on that one, not over it like this one.  Either looks like it would work great.  It looks like this one uses paracord,  I think I'll try that.  Thanks!
