I like the pace and feeling of this a lot. Excellent. The gun went BLAM and I got splattered with bits of ham.
I think the old and white and kind of hillbilly version of this song was borrowed from the blacks. And the whites likely did not know that in the black vernacular of the time, that a salty dog was a man cheating with someone else's woman - or a mouthful of, ---- well, let's not go there.
