First.....I don't know if I am posting this correctly....I had sent a note already but it appears that it went to the *Group* so I'm not sure if that was correct.
I then saw this Add A Discussion button and figured I would give that a try....
I'm a retired disabled Air Force vet.
I've been a member here in the group for quite awhile because I have a huge fascination with CBG's but as of yet I have not been able to build one because of my disability.
I have been chomping at the bit trying to find a hobby that will help me with my therapy and be fun at the same time.
When I saw the CGB's I thought that learning how to play one of them would be a perfect hobby.
I have the desire to build one of my own someday but until I get back some recovery I will have to suffice with learning how to play.
As I said, I've been a member here in this site for quite awhile but just today I noticed this program and I thought that perhaps I'd give this a try.
I think it's just amazing what you folks are doing in support of military members across the world....It's wonderful and I thank you for that...
Even if I don't qualify for this I still appreciate the fact that you offer this program and that you recognize and appreciate what our military folks are going through...
Thanks a ton..!!!

Hi Kevin,
Welcome to The Nation and thank you for your service to your country. I am sure there are loads of folks here that can give you a hand. I think we all agree that the satisfaction of building a playable instrument is extremely rewarding.
Would it help if you had a kit with some pre-fabricated parts? I don't want to pry into what your disability is, but I am sure we can support you enough that you can get something built.
Would that help?
Dan
Hi Dan and thanks so much for the reply back....
I have to give you a little background on my situation just so you understand where I'm at with all of this...
I have a rare neurological disorder that's a cousin to MS and I am currently wheelchair bound.
My entire workshop area is in my basement...and I am unable to go up or down steps at this time. I am essentially paralyzed from the waist down...
I have never played a guitar of any kind before and I want to learn so badly and now given my situation, taking some time by myself to just sit back in a corner of a room and learn to play some basic things, would help my state of mind immensely.
I am slowly working through physical therapy with the hope that one day I will regain enough strength in my legs that I am able to go back down to my workshop again...
I once kept myself busy by carving wood spirit canes and I can no longer even do that....
So I am chomping at the bit to find another hobby to keep my mind active while I work on my recovery.....
I hope that all makes a little sense to you....
Thanks again for the reply,
Kevin
Sorry to hear that, but glad that you are not going to let it get you down. Let me check a few things and see what I can put together.
Would it work for you if you could do a "kitchen table" build, requiring only a small hand saw, a screwdriver, and an electric drill?
Absolutely Dan....!!!
I can get my wife to take me outside on my back deck...
I have a small table out there and I can get her to grab the tools from the basement and bring them out to me....
That would be awesome....!!!!!
