Thanks. I always thought this was by Irma Thomas and probably the reason why the Stones covered it . 

It was actually written by Jerry Ragavoy under the name Norman Meade and first recorded in '63 by Kai Winding , a Jazz Trombonist. The Irma Thomas & Rolling Stones versions feature additional lyrics by Jimmy Norman. 

The Stones recorded at least 2 studio versions and a live cut in about 1982 (?)
