Wayfinder - I use this press to clamp the frets into the slots. This press was used in  taylor's workhop and I've just added an old bicycle brake element to make it as wide as the frets are.

Hi Wayfinder, I think you will find that that devise is a fret press. I use one for fretting my guitars, not all but if it suits the neck or fingerboard.

On my CBG's I just use my fretting hammer.

Anyhow, I disagree with one of your statements about yourself: you ARE an artist. Craftmanship produces art too. What you don't have (and clearly don't want - and I agree with that) is industrial means to production - which guarantee repeatability and consistency of the output products. Something an artist - who makes 'one of a kind' objects - doesn't need nor want anyhow.

Great vid!I like to use anything available.I'm in the USA,but I use cheap tools and parts.My first "box" guitar was one I built out of an old high school project and a neck off a broken guitar.
