Bought the Harbor Freight pull saw last week for fretting and it looks like the kerf is wider than the ones people have been using. The kerf is .032 now at least the tooth set is . The slot is too wide for the CB Gitty frets. Luckily I only did one before I noticed. Used my old Irwin it was pretty beat up but it still cut better than the HF one.

The neighbors complain about that too, but these guitars sound fine to me and I'm half deaf!

what did you say???

Ordered the new Shark Saw on Amazon that CB Gitty advertises and some new fret stock and mispc. From CB Gitty picked up a few cigar boxes up in Mich while visiting wife's sister in hospital. Going to make a uke for great niece she will do art on box after I cut it up. She really likes the Cheshire cat some one on the site put in photo section.

Got the saw and the advertised kerf is .02" which i think will work?

With one of these just a touch not sawing just touching. Got bit about three times before it sunk in hard. Measured the set and its .022 "

Well I tried to use the new Shark saw on the refret job I was doing could not get it to do a good job not smooth like the old Irwin shorter teeth and not near as sharp. Tried on fresh wood it was draggy and a bad cut first third and fourth . The second cut was the old Irwin smooth as glass! I'll give it a few more tries but so far it's thumbs down!

I've just bought and receive a shark saw not tried it out yet but it is very flexible.

so will have to stiffen it a bit.

Hope mine was a bad one and yours works out John . I just found and ordered an Irwin to match the beat up one I had . Amazon had it for $12.99 free shipping.

Well now I'll have 4 pull saws should have went Dan Sleeps way and did the Stew Mac saw. I'm a slow learner.

the shop I bought it from(USA) said ... Ultra thin blade will not bind while providing exceptionally smooth cuts.

also I saw another add in guitar tools said that they use it in all their fretting but wanted more for the same saw.so I bought the cheapest that I could find,

John I just made a few more cuts and the frets push in by hand and come out just as easy probably ok if you were gluing them in. That said try it on some scrap wood.

John did you try your saw yet? I got the new saw (Irwin) and will give it a try tonight. If your saw is too loose in kerf we should let Ben CB Gitty know. Ill try mine tonight.

Just did a side by side test in the Irwin new, Irwin old, Shark seen on CB Gitty and the Harbor Freight saw. Both Irwins (see link to saw in post "Harbor Freight pull saw size change" post) cut .022 " the shark .028 and the Harbor Freight .030+ . CB Gitty frets are loose on the HF finger push in on the Shark and the Irwins are just right to hammer or press in . See photo below
