I want to create my own logo for the headstock of each guitar I build.  Has anyone had success with those printable water slide decals?  Any other ideas to put your logo on the headstock?

For an even cheaper solution I have glued ordinary paper on. Inkjet ink runs with water based glue and the colour laser printer from work runs with superglue so pick one that works for you.

I used individual letter ink stamps on the headstock of my Cohiba-Caster, and then clear-coated with some spray poly. Came out great.

Another option would be to order up a custom ink stamp from someplace like this (this isn't an endorsement, just an example)  http://www.simplystamps.com

not a bad idea. lot of work tho to line up each letter , but it is neat... I see that you can order specialty stamps like a monogram which are self inking. that would be cool.. one could make up your own monogram or whatever and have them make it for you.. I believe places like Staples here in Canada do that as well.. the only thing I would think about is what kind of ink is in those things and is it compatible with lacquer, etc etc..

I hit this with a light coat of spray poly.

Same thing on my next built - the Strato-rez.

If you go VEEEERY light with the first coat of poly, it sticks without running.

I did an experiment and found that brushing the poly on was the same as rubbing it with thinner or something.

I am about out. Time to reorder.

I have. You have to use a laser printer and be verrrry carefull. If you don't clearcoat it, it won't hold.

Another alternative is woodburning:

Right near the beginning, around 0:14-0:18. Did that myself after the mods discussed in the vid. Pick also did a custom t-shirt iron on transfer logo on the body top and back for me.
