This was created by a very good friend of mine and really captures the feel of what I'm trying to create. The old school blues, The Delta Blues, The Acoustic Blues, The raw emotion of it all.

I guess i'm into the hording column. Not to keep them from others, but my sales column is short and my projects to do list is huge. My roster may exceed my lifespan. Lucky my grand children love guitars....

That's true. I look at it like an investment, What I am buying will be hopefully be paying me back at some point. The again I also like to collect but not to a point of hording, Just enough to give me a nice collection :)

I know it's expensive. I'm looking at it like a savings account. I put money and my time into it and then sell some to clear the place out a little and get more moolah to spend. It's a wicked cycle. I have a wonderful roster of great guitars to pick on and enough "savings" to give me trickle income the rest of my days. Works for me.... :^)

Well Happy Birthday to You! I make it a point to stay in touch with the new technology that comes out but like i said I prefer the vintage stuff. There is just something that I can'rt describe about when playing through vintage gear.I just wish it wasn't so damn expensive :)

Me too Blue. I stumble and swear, but the new stuff is neat if you can figure it out. I'm 70 in a few days so it's a stretch. Old Dog syndrome.

I remember always wanting a 4 track when I first started playing. Now they have all sorts of digital stuff and I don't think they even make 4 tracks anymore. All I see are 8 tracks. Also there are computer programs that can give you a full blown studio on your laptop. I prefer vintage gear but I am not opposed to using new technology.

The recorder we used was the basic 4 track. It cost about $100 each. I got one and bought one for a friend that was down and needed some therapy. Then another friend got one and we started the round robin. I've got to get it out again and try some more.

Wow! I like the idea of adding layers to it. I guess I've always like music like that. The only scripted stuff I do is covers of some classic rock but even with that I try to change it a little to a blues format. I tried reading sheet music but it just doesn't add up.

It is fun. We'd do a whole number of tunes on each tape. I'd play banjo, my friend would add mandolin, send it back and i'd add accordion, then he'd finish it with a guitar. Each one would turn out different. We never script music other than to have the lyrics to read and maybe a chart of the chord progression. Never sheet music. I can't read it much anyway.

That sounds like fun, I'm sure you could really come up with some nice long songs. It would be nice to just improv some stuff rather than have scripted muisc.
