Hello ya'll,
First let me thank all of yall for all the great information you hand out on this site! Props to all of ya!!!

Now for the messup part, lol
I got my box and decided to use some old oak I got from an old couch.
started reading on here and said I can do it!
so I started by cutting my box, I messed up there a lil to by making my neck recess the size of the box all the way across. but I can live with that one!
Now this is where yall will star laughin !
I sanded my neck down nice and smooth, then I layed out my fret marks, Then I drilled 1/4" holes at my position marks and inlaid some 1/4' dowels for my markers then I got on cbg nation and seen sumthin bout a scarf joint, started watching videos by jimfrets on the how tos and got plans for a table saw jig from dulceattic.
Now I am all fired up bout doing this scaf joint...
Build a jig did sum test cuts and all was well, they fit pretty good... I like it . this thing gonna look like a real neck... emm yeah sumthin goto go wrong...well it did!
Bring back into your minds that neck I so lovingly sanded on till it was straight.
And put it in the scarf joint jig and I think I will be plaing this thing on Sunday....make that scarf cut oh yeah I likes it!!!!!
Bam , hit in the fore head by a brick of discouragement, It's backwards, the dang angle is backwards!!!!!
well from now on I will scarf my neck blank befor I do any thing else!!!

(Insert important question here.)
But do yall think I could glue me sum oak back into the box top cut out then redo that cut on the oposit side and still make this thing howell the blues?

Thanx for all the input and tips!

You know I think the great point made here well two actually... LOL is first mistakes happen, and usually are the ones that bite us in the proverbial butt. That is as they say... life. Second great point is fix the mistake. The way I see it is this, you got all this work already invested in it right? I mean you are all stoked up feeling great about your work and then BAM you notice the Homer Simpson moment... ( I have them all the time!) DOH! I say fix it, and make it part of the build. If for no other reason that little confidence boost you will get when you play the instrument and know you over came the mistake. Plus it makes for a great war story.

Me I have always been a knowledge hound. I drive the wife crazy with it. She asks me what time is it, and I begin to tell her how to build a clock. LOL Can't help it just how I have always been. Thing is, I certainly read a lot, and at that I read stuff most would fall into a deep coma if they tried to read it, but I have found that I lean exponentially more from my mistakes than I do from the bibliographies and "How To Books".

Not sure if you ever completed this, but I certainly wish you all the best. Hope you got it fixed.
This might be a Good time for some of the Experts here to give us new builders a idea on the building sequence.
So if some of you can give us the sequence to building a CBG or just the necks maybe? when do we cut, sand, put frets on etc etc.
If that's your first then your next will surely be something. personally, i think it looks great, how does it sound?
I still have the first neck i started but wouldn't dare use it. After trying and failing i set down and got focused. Now I still ain7t finished with my first one. But I am moving nice and slow bc i wanta make it right.
Oh, yeah...nice, clean save!

I wrecked my first puttin' a pick-up in it, built my second (fuente box, too!) with a redwood neck and slotted headstock--bad combo....it was weak, brittle, and it broke. Now I'M the one trying to do a scarf joint to save it--I have yet to have a working box for more than 48 hours!

I really like the look of your oak neck...I'll have to give that one a try!
