ok i want to have a go at making a bass cicar box guitar. now the total board length is 40'' and that incl the head stock and the bit that hangs out of the end of the box length of neck from nut to bridge is 32'' length from nut to front of box is 24'' is this ok. it is going to be fretless and only have 2 strings so i  hope i am on the right path any help would be  good thanks guys and Gals.

yes is this length of board ok for this build  does it sound right or do i have to work to a different formula

30" is about the length for a short-scale bass so 32" will work.

Just make sure you buy strings appropriate for your scale length and you'll be good to go.

I just checked my 2 string bass. It's a fretless 28" scale. I just bought the cheapest strings the shop had. Works fine.
