Hello. New here and new to making GBG's.

I am collecting parts to build an octave mando and a license plate resonator. For the reso, I have a vintage PA plate and I was thinking about putting a cone under it and I would love some advice.

I had a wild idea and searched ebay for, found and won some tart pans:

If you ask me, they look like resonator cones!

My question:

If I use these, should the cone be attached to the plate (I might hammer out the tins to make a small lip for attachment) or should I attach them to the body and have them contact the plate when the box is closed?

I was thinking I'd put the pickup on the plate above where the middle of the cone touches the plate.

Also, would using two of these be overkill in this guitar?

Since I got six of them I'll probably build a 'traditional' reso too...

Thanks all!

I hope you try out this overkill idea. It sounds...  interesting.

They make great resonator cones, but why hide them? Get rid of the nonstick and polish them...

Sweet looking build there!

Hiding them (on this build) because of the license plate. Making it for my dad & got a plate from the year he was born.

Top idea, post pics when its done!!
