Probably like many folks here, I enjoy building stuff, but find my myself in the position of: well, how many cigar box amps do I really need for myself? So naturally, the mind turns to thoughts of…Continue

Cigar Box Amplifier grounding and power options

OK, I have a serious question this time :-) I am building another cigar box AMPLIFIER, using a 2.5W Artec amp circuit, an Artec QDD2 Quadra Distortion Driver circuit (both from site sponsor C.B.…Continue

How's that for a thread title? Anyway ...Let's say a hypothetical good-looking man was busy building a cigar box amplifier, and was so distracted that he accidentally drilled two input jack holes…Continue

Replacing an Artec amp trim pot with an external panel pot

I'd like to replace the internal trim pot on an Artec 2.5W amp circuit board with an adjustable pot mounted on the outside of my CB amp. Can it be done? What value of potentiometer would be…Continue

" I think the mojo factor comes into play on this one. The cold plastic toy amps will never compare to the handmade amp. I unfortunately, spend around 80.00 to build my cigar box amps. The speaker I use is a Jensen that cost 26.00 alone. But oh…"

"Dave, There are people here who purchase a $20-$40 Dano Honeytone purely to rip the guts out to place in a cigar box (not that there's anything wrong with that). I assume you are soldering your own circuitry, based on something like the LM386…"

How much would you pay for a cigar box amplifier?

Probably like many folks here, I enjoy building stuff, but find my myself in the position of: well, how many cigar box amps do I really need for myself? So naturally, the mind turns to thoughts of selling some of the stuff I build. Otherwise, I will wind up with a house full of little amplifiers. My question to you guys is: how much do you think is a fair price for a cigar box amp? Regardless of how much I spend to build one, that is.If a CBamp is small and cute, and sits in a store next to…See More

"Tru-Oil is the greatest, for maple necks and other woods that need a hard, glossy surface. And it is cheap and easy to use. It's technically a varnish, I believe. For rosewood and ebony fingerboards, plain old mineral oil (what mom gave you to…"

"In case anyone is wondering, I received some fairly complete responses on another forum (TDPRI), and eventually wound up with this diagram. The only addition to this schematic would be an on/off switch for the delay unit. "

Cigar Box Amplifier grounding and power options

OK, I have a serious question this time :-) I am building another cigar box AMPLIFIER, using a 2.5W Artec amp circuit, an Artec QDD2 Quadra Distortion Driver circuit (both from site sponsor C.B. Gitty), and possibly a 9v slapback delay circuit of some sort (yet to be determined).See my diagrams below (and I apologize in advance for my lack of electronics knowledge and poor schematic drawing skills).I would ideally like to use a single 9V battery to power everything, and have everything on a…See More

Dave replied to Dave's discussion Hypothetical question (extra hole)
"Now we're talkin' ... what would a daisy-chained input look like, wiring-wise? Just a positive and ground wire from the second input jack to the input and ground of the amp?"
