Need suggestions for the best uses for an ACID Cigars box.

Hi all. I'm Andrew and I'm from Tasmania, Australia. I made my first cbg on the weekend. It is a small Romeo y Julieta box. 3 string, 21" scale with piezo pickup. Neck and fretboard from Tas Oak (eucalyptus). Sounds very sweet though not very loud. Good through the amp though I had to knock a little treble off. Some little finishing touches to go but I'm quite happy with it.

I've got a few more on the go as well. A 25" scale Macanudo, 23" scale Arturo Fuente both probably to be 4 string. Also a chisel box guitar and a cutlery box guitar have been started.

Hey Lance, welcome to the show. I'm Scott, aka Farmer Ted. Been building for about 5 years.....47 cbgs, 5 lapsteels, two strum sticks and two solid bodies later and I am still learning new things on each build.

A little about piezo disks...they're notorious for feedback. Especially with high gain amps. I've read posts by other builders suggesting to encase and stick the piezo inside box, under bridge area or close to it, with silicone. May help with feedback a bit. Antother tip is your location relative to your amplifier. I find that facing the amp a little away from you or the plaer's direct line helps a bit too.

Cheers

Hi Im Lance from Indiana. I saw a cbg on youtube and loved it right away. I just happened to be at a flea market in Missiouri and saw a Montesino box and decided to by it and build a three string fretless to start with. It sounds cool but the neck (1x2 oak) twisted just a bit and I wired a piezo under the lid and I get alot of feed back if I use the gain on my amp. I will build more and hopefully learn from you folks. Love the sight and look forward to learning from and with you.

Thanks for the kind words, I try and build each one as something with it's own personality.

Oh yeah...I reply to most anything, but when I hear "Mr. Petry" I tend to look around for my dad. :)>

Mr. Petry, Thank You for the warm welcome.  I took a peek at you "collection" of instruments.  Very nice indeed.  I like your style, clean and personal.  You are a true craftsman.  I am excited to hear the "voice" of my new project.  It has to be better than the ones I hear in my head now!  LOL

Welcome to the insanity McCoy. These things are truly addictive and the best part is hearing the different voice from each build. Have fun, that's what it's all about.
