I have a soft piezo rod that I pulled out of an old acoustic electric guitar with a broke neck. Would it be a good pickup for my  cigar box project? Also it is too long. Can it be just cut off?

Those blue pills might help !!!  :-)   Sorry, couldn't let that go past !!!
But seriously, I'm not familiar with the one in the pic - I know the black 6 node rods can be cut - how was this one placed in the old guitar??

lol...It came from under the saddle just like a 6 node rode

If it is flexible enough could it be bend around, doubled up  - I'm not sure about cutting this type - never seen one.

Yes it would be a good pup for your project. Check it to make sure it works before installing it. You could probably get away with cutting it.

CB Gitty says don't cut.  However, you can bend or coil it.  I just put one on my electric upright bass and it sounds great.

Found this old but very good article that describes various types of piezo material and how to make your own cable-type, just like the one Christopher Dixon asked about.  http://www.liutaiomottola.com/PrevPubs/Piezo/CoaxTransducer.htm
