Gotham epoxied-in rod piezo demo - no squeeze

I had a question about rod piezo pups, so i assembled one like a disk and epoxied it under the license plate, no direct squeeze from the bridge but lots of vibration. Sounds great thru a preamp! All it needs is contact vibration.

Sounds pretty great.

Wooden box - if you see the Gotham Guts photos, you can see the severely hacked away back and sides. I put lots of foil duct tape inside as shielding.

I don't think I'd have ever thought about the JB weld. Cool. Is this a metal box as well? I never thought a license plate could sound that good. Gonna steal that one from you. (grins)

 Thank you

Southern Ray- the piezo rod was epoxied in place with JB Weld (I don’t mess around). I sanded and cleaned the back of the plate with windex first, wiped in a very light layer of JB Weld, then pressed in the rod, and sandwiched it with another light layer of JB Weld and a very thin strip of cedar from a cigar divider that was in the box. I “clamped” it down with some soup cans overnight. Take a look at my pix - you’ll see the wood strip between the bridge and first pickup. Worked like a charm.

Browsing through CBN today, I just had to hear this again. Didn't reallyget a chance to really listen to it. Got it turned up some and the dynamics came out better on these PC speakers. That thing sounds awesome. Nice play as well. Loved the short ditty.

Nice. I sure liked the pics of this one.  Nice jazzy play and tone with a bit of reso sound to it.

Sounds great! I'd like to thank you for this, since I just bought a license plate from the state and year  of my birth. (Old, old, ooolllddd) I also want to make a license plate guitar from it. I would appreciate anything else about how you mounted the piezo, more about your build, etc..

 Thanks again!
