This was a 1 take wonder. Sounded real good on studio monitor with just a slight bit of distortion, need to fine tune but see great audio potential even after being compressed & sent to youtube. Also need to buy a new VHS tape as this one was a tape over from 35 years ago.

Thanks Bristol Blue!! I've always been a hands on kinda guy, cars, electronics, etc. I've had a blast building my studio, especially my tube amps, & CBG's which I contribute to my tone. I'm hoping to dial in my playin' & singin' this winter with the KodazZi8 & the VHS recorder. I'll be sure to say hi to Keff for ya'!!

Awesome tone man.....  say hello to Keef for me when you meet up (I have never met him but his autobiography was excellent lol!)

That sounds fantastic.  It's true that analogue sound can have a naturally warmer sound than digital, the same as film has a much softer, warmer tone than digital video.  I suppose we shouldn't be surprised that when we reduce a broad, continuous spectrum of light or sound to ones and zeros, we lose something.  Great experiment - looking forward to more !

Thanks Pick for reminding me of Keith's audio genius! Keith & Patti live about 20 minutes from us & they frequents a local bistro on occasion. I've meet Patti a couple of times through my wife, but never Keith. Would love to get him in my studio to record on the VHS. Hmmm, maybe I can use it as bait???

I gotta' tell ya' Wes, I really like the "lo-fi" sound this old mono deck produces. I'm definitely hearing better bass then on digital, and a warmth that can only be heard on tape. Look forward to further experimentation.
