I was just curious, as I am planning a 6-string build.  I don't plan on using any metal, either.  I like a nice thick neck, anyway, and I hope the bulk will make it strong enough to resist the string tension.

Hi Jon

I must admit to never using a Truss rod. I sort of build the necks in bulk so I can just grab one when I want to do a new build. They're around 50" long so I can use them for cigar box through necks or cut them down for bolt on solid body.

So far "touch wood" I havn't had one warp on me, they're all old seasoned Oak with Maple fretboards and seem very stable....I do think I'll try a truss rod at some time though!

Did you reinforce the neck, or add a truss rod?
